All,

>(Apologies to Griffith Uni students and Alumni, I can't comment on your
>university although it does seem to be a cross between QUT's personality

No Offence to Griffith University in any way, but I found there IT Course
to be VERY outdated and utterly useless if you wanted to become anything
other than a Programmer, a lecturer with no industry experience, or a
System Analysis.

My Interest in the course was so intense i left it. Went hunting for a job
for 3 months in the Internet Field, and now i have no intention of
returning to GU. When i had a look at the course, i found that most of the
people that where succeeding in the course where those that had problems
turning on the computers when they first started the course (no im not
lieing here), sometimes i wonder if i should just have gotten an OP of 24
and attended TAFE :)

To put it bluntly, GU's IT Course is Out Of Date, they have just moved
there Programing Course to JAVA, and well.. im starting to see people lean
more to PERL than Java now. They are making moves that the industry made 2
- 3 years ago and implementing them now, and in this Industry you cannot
keep your students up to date with that kind of knowledge.

I feel that i have a much better chance of walking into a job with my 9
months experience in tech support than i would with a IT Degree from
Griffith. University's are meant to teach you to think and solve problems,
it did, i left!

If i had the choice (which i didn't last time because of my OP) i would
attend QUT, mainly because they have a Data Communications course which is
what my interest and talent is :P.

(I have heard they do offer good Inviromental based Courses if they take
your fancy however)
