Well, **silly me**. I use Netscape (well, used until recently) for News
here, and Lookout 2000 for news/contacts/schedule/all else. This is because
the Outlook Express news client SUX - do a system reinstall (yes, Win98) and
you need to re-subscribe to all the newsgroups again - not with Netscape
tho! Why didn't I think of Netscape? (Brain fade on Friday?)
However, I recently did a fresh install with MS Windows 98 SE and had a few
problems. First, the current Creative PCI64 drivers (4.05.1051) are broken
under Win98 SE - they system does two (that's "2" - folks) detection
phases - finds it all the first time, then does it again anyway - if these
drivers (or the earlier 4.05.1050 drivers) are loaded. Watch out for
this...
Also, under Win98 SE, I have found that both Netscape 4.51 and Netscape 4.6
are as unstable as all hell, and crash as soon as you try to change the
default mail format from html to plain text. Also, they both crash almost
every time they are run, and again almost every time they are closed down.
The exact same files installed on a fresh Win98 (original) system work
perfectly. Watch out for this too...
I believe Netscape Communicator is available with scheduling support. Has
anyone used this? I have not had the chance to play with it. Is it any
good, no good, what?
Have you tried running multiple browser windows? Does it work now? I
noticed this was broken before (think it was Netscape 4.51, may be wrong
here).
