I have been synching my server from the CSIRO time server and am getting an
error of -11 seconds per day. This is causing a problem in that my daily
cron jobs get run twice, since 4:00 am happens twice a day now !!
I am using "ntpdate ntp.syd.dms.csiro.au", ntpdate has a -B option that has
this description...
"Force the time to always be slewed using the adjtime() system call, even if
the measured offset is greater than +-128 ms. The default is to step the
time using settimeofday() if the offset is greater than +-128 ms. Note that,
if the offset is much greater than +-128 ms in this case, that it can take a
long time (hours) to slew the clock to the correct value. During this time.
the host should not be used to synchronize clients. "
Is this what I should use? The comment about it taking a long time kinda
concerns me a bit.
The other thing I have considered, is there a way to adjust the clock so
that the drift is less?
