The beginning of hda1 should be at the very outside of the disk, which is
supposed to be the fastest area of the disk.  Even though diks do play
with geometry, the partitions should still be contiguous.

I estimate the speed increase might be 1-2% perhaps.  Not alot really, and
the points about caching are important.  However, it is important to
remember that you can't (yet) cache an entire disk, so the hit rate is not
100% so the disk setup does play some part.
