[H-GEN] Linux Dialup Configuration

Looks like my RedHat 5.2 is FINALLY able to dial out
and establish a PPP session. Thanks to all who contributed
gems of wisdom  Can anyone suggest how to get the O/S
to show how long the connection has been up and give an
indication of data flow rate ... or maybe suggest some basic
online timer along the lines of NetMedic .... I have a fulltime
connection so I don't need to keep track of hours but it would
still be nice to compare how long this thing can stay
connected in comparison with what I have been getting with
Win9x (up to 2 weeks) and WinNT4 boxes (a few days at best).
