I am trying to run a remote x app (xmms) with the command
xmms -display 192.168.0.24:0.0
now this returns
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
the Gtk I am assuming is something like Gnome Tool Kit (quite likely wrong
but U never know)
now that display command I use for most things thus far and it works.
a bit about the systems
one machine is redhat 6.0 (running enlightenment) the other mandrake 6.1
(running kde / kwm)
xmms is on the redhat machine
xmms is on the mandrake machine
each works happily on it's own machine
now what and why I am trying to acheive is to be able to run the display on
a remote screen so I can effectivly see both players so i can run the
outputs thru a mixer and mix between the two machines. And also have it so
that I can run the two music players close to the main Power amp and have
the displays of both on a third machine.
2 possible outcomes.
1. Tell me if it is possible and how
or
2. Tell me it won't work and to forget it
