[H-GEN] I habe slight problem

This is more a pain than anything. What it is is this every day an email is 
generated by the cron daemon and sent to root now it has something to do 
with cron.daily

the contents are as follows

Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 04:02:37 +1000
From: Cron Daemon <root at duckling>
To: root at duckling
Subject: Cron <root at duckling> run-parts /etc/cron.daily

/usr/bin/news.daily: /var/lib/news/.news.daily: Permission denied

now news.daily is r_xr_x___
.news.daily is rw_r__r__

now I do not know exactly when this started. but it might have been when i 
upgraded the kernel, I have had a look thru the new kernel half a dozen 
time trying to find anything relevent to cron I am running 2.2.11 now

can anyone help me (hmm silly question) ok which guru knows what might be 
causing this
