Not a *drop-in* replacement, no.  The default config file I got when I
installed it was pretty good, and the docs aren't bad either.  I
managed to get what I needed up and running with only an hour or two's
work, and I'd never seen it before.

Wait until you have some spare time and give it a run; if I needed an
ftpd on my home box, I'd run proftpd.
