[H-GEN] New Kernel compile fails to boot

I see a few people have had problems with 2.2.10 kernel

I've just started on compile of 2.2.9 to get routing sorted 
out among other stuff and wondering if there is anything of 
consequence to be gained by putting the later kernel in or if
2.2.10.is more trouble than its worth
