[H-GEN] crossfire

Hi all.  A 0.95.3 crossfire server is currently running at
crossfire.oc.humbug.org.au.  This version only supports the client-server
setup, not the older xhosting display mothod.

The necessary clients are available at
ftp://ftp.oc.humbug.org.au/pub/crossfire

The server still has a few bugs, as I haven't applied th cvs tree updates
yet.  If it breaks while you are playing you get to keep both pieces.

As this is a kind of pre-release of the server for those that might want
to play, don't expect alot of help at this stage if stuff is broken.  If a
character gets stuck out in the ocean and can't move (a known bug) then
crash the client to save the character and, email me and I can rescue the
character.

If you have no idea what crossfire is, then feel free to have a go but I
won't really be sitting down and explaining stuff at this point - I'm
better off spending the time working on my new maps and on getting the
server stable.  Later, I will do another talk on crossfire at humbug.

Ok, here's a quick precis :)

Crossfire is a multi-user graphical adventure (kind of roguelike) game
originally for X only but now with clients for different OSes (although
the X clients are still the only really stable ones afaik).

I intend this server to eventually be announced on the crossfire mailing
list for world wide use, but this depends on the amount of incoming data
that the clients generate.  (I'm only really charged for incoming).  So
I'll be looking to see how the server goes bandwidthwise (and generally
how efficient the client-server protocol is).

One known bug is that apparently learning spells causes the client to
crash right now.  Hopefully the cvs update will fix that.
