just commented out ipcp-accept-remote & ipcp-accept-local fr.
/etc/ppp/options with no change to accessing a reliable connection - the
only other thing i _know_ i've changed is the send/expect strings in the
dialler script.

the really weird thing (in my current state of cluelessness) is that i
now have unbridled access to both my isp's news server & the default
group server installed with netscape..
