The CD is an Acer Atapi IDE

It is a secondary Slave in mode 4 whatever that means. When I installed RH
before I had no such problems. The main hdd in my system is running windows
against my will. When I try to install Linux on the other hdd i take the
windows hdd out incase I do anything nasty.

Windows recognises it with no problems but i do not have any drivers installed
in dos mode or the hdd on which I wish to install Linux
