ok...i am stumped.....though prolly through stupidity.

i have a western digital SMC ethernet card and on bootuo it configures to
IRQ=3 IO=0x280 (which is right) and all my IP settings are ok

192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.0.0
broadcast 192.168.0.255

but when i tried to ping another machine on the network.....no go.

so i run ifconfig and it says

yep...ip stuff matches up right :)

IRQ= 3  <---thats cool too
IO=0x290   <----oh crap :(

so i go to /etc/conf.modules and i put in

alias eth0 wd
options wd io=0x280

....dum de dum....run ifconfig again...and the same :(

did a man on ifconfig to see if i could change the IO address...but i
coudn't see anything...maby its cause i wear glasses or something.

Does anyone know how i can force it to see 0x280??? cause i know it is on
that IO address.

Thanks in advance for any ideas that proove usefull.

Luke Grant
