Out of curiousity, has anyone had problems using smbmount in recent times?
A little while back, I had problems with a 2.0.something kernel.
Mounting something shared with spaces in it, really messed up the mount
tables, and I (rightly or wrongly) associate it with widespread filesystem
corruption that occoured at the same time.
The command I used at the time, was
# smbmount "//robert/gateway c" /mnt
fuzzy BSc.
