Ummm...well can you give us the output of running the command "ifconfig"
and "route -n" ? Your netmask is the thing that looks like
255.255.255.0 - but sometimes it's different, it depends upon your
particular network setup. If you give us the details (from those above
commands), then we can look it.

OK, so telnet and ftp work one-way. What else did you want to have ?
If you want to access your Linux files from the Win box, then look into
Samba. I'm not sure if the reverse is possible (not being a terribly
Win knowledgable person). If you are running NT, then connecting from
Linux to the Win box is OK - not sure if you can do it with '95.

In case you didn't know: the automounter is a swish program which
mounts filesystems on demand (eg. your CD-ROM, or a NFS server).

Not knowing the details of your setup, I suspect the problem is that you
don't have access to a domain name server (dns). amd is probably
trying to check a few details about hosts it uses/is used by. It sits
there for some time as it tried to contact your DNS - causing a delay
until finally the attempts time out and the rest of the boot can
proceed. Do you actually have a use for amd ? If not, then just
disable it. If so, then make sure either (a) you can get at your DNS,
or (b) all the relevant hosts are listed in your /etc/hosts file (so
no lookup is needed).

Cheers,
	Craig.
