Your mailer appears to be buggy. It's not inserting a blank line
between the headers and the body, which (in some cases) makes sendmail
and various mail readers interpret the first k (for k=1 usually) lines
as header information.

Are your serial ports (/dev/ttyS[0-9], /dev/cua[0-9]) chmod
appropriately so user's can access them? I believe the recommended way
opf doing things is to have a dialin-users group, or similar.

I've read that suid scripts are a security hole, and thus
Linux/bash/something doesn't do anything with suid shell scripts.

Add '-v' to your chat line and look through the system logs for more
information on what's going wrong.

I don't speak for anyone save myself. PGP encrypted mail preferred.
