[H-GEN] Advice re. video cards.

I'm buying a new computer.  Don't know enough about video cards to make an
informed decision.

All I know is that I want to be able to do some 3D visualisation work, and
run X at 1280x1024 at 75Hz (or better).

Does anyone know enough about video cards to give me some advice.
