[H-GEN] Redhat Copy Problem ...

When copying a working redhat 5.1 installation from one partition to
another (using tar, and preserving file permissions/ownership) i run
into an annoying problem.

When booting the new partition, a message is constantly logged to the
console, of the form :

wrote 5/5 blocks

the blocks fields vary but this happens often enough that its hard to
type an entire command (even the two leter ones :)  without this messing
up the console.

Its obviously a kernel message, but where is this changing in behavior
from the already working configuration?
