[H-GEN] comsat/biff question (fwd)

Actually, this is something I have been kinda thinking about trying to
implement, although for a different reason.  Basically, I was hoping to
have a cron job scan any/all log files that I wish to monitor for
certain events (eg failed logins and such) and have a warning dialog box
displayed on my windows machine which is always running an X server
(eXcursion from digital... free and not *too* buggy.  It has a mode
where it will use windows as the window manager, which is kinda nice
since you can have windows open to anywhere and it's all nicely
integrated... but I diverge.[1])

So I was kinda hoping there was some program that I could call in a
script that will open a dialog box on a particular display.... anyone
know of such a beastie?

The other alternative is to use samba to send a winpopup message (I
really wish it was possible to hide that awful bloody thing)

Any suggestions? (apart from not using windows, which would be really
cool but is not practical at this juncture)
