Particularly for those with multi-processor machines and need for
relatively mature threading and Java requirements, Sun have just done
the incredible and are giving out *free*[1] non-commercial and
educational user licences for their SPARC and PC releases of Solaris!

Non-commercial developers can order their copy at

students should go to http://www.sun.com/edu/solaris to place an
order.
