Subject: HELP - I need a small C program

Hi All,

I am looking for a small program, preferably written in C.

It must...

 a) Be small and written in vanilla C (no C++)
 b) Accept an IP number + Port Number from the command line
 c) Open the port
 d) Accept a given number of characters [say 40] from the port
 e) Time out if no characters arrive within [say] 250ms
 f) Dump the characters onto stdout
 g) Die

The port is one-way traffic only. It will either be constantly
spewing out data or be stopped. The data stream is a repeating
pattern of [I think] 16 bytes, so 40 bytes should give us at
least one clean sample.

Do I have any volunteers? If you can help, give me a quick
call on 04 1455 1488. No payment, sorry. I am trying to put
forward an elegant Unix solution, as opposed to an NT kludge.
Time is of the essence. If I can't get this solution I have
a work-around, but its messy and hence inelegant.

TIA

Gaz
