[H-GEN] network / subnetting problem (rather long)

Hi, I am having trouble working out how to do the following (or working out
if it is possible!)

(note - when doing a traceroute, packets go OUT through
gateway.chemistry.uq.edu (130.102.84.15)
, whereas doing a traceroute IN, they go through gateway.var.uq.edu.au
(130.102.170.30). I'm
assuming they are the same physical piece of equipment.

current setup

                    130.102.84.0 (chemnet)
INTERNET ------> VARGATE/CHEM GATEWAY
------->------------------------------------------------------------

       |                             |                      |

130.102.84.34          130.102.84.x1         x2 etc

(cadmium)

x1 and x2 are other random computers on the chemistry network and are not
important
130.102.84.34 is cadmium.chemistry.uq.edu.au (my computer - also callled
cadmium.scotty.org)

Now, I want to connect _another_ computer to cadmium like this

                                                  chemnet
NET ----> VARGATE------>---------------------------------------
                                              |                          |
                                              |                      (UTP)
                                           (UTP)                    x1
                                         cadmium
                                           (BNC)
                                             |
                                   130.102.84.150 (silicon)

I've indicated that cadmium has UTP connection to the rest of chemnet, and
BNC connection
to my prvate net (10.0.0.x (pandanet) ) in this room. Yes, two ethernet
cards.

Now, currnently, silicon (also mine) is host 10.0.0.5 with cadmium doing IP
masq for it and 4
others ( 10.0.0.x - don't ask why I use this rather than 168.whatever - I
just like rooom for
expansion!)

Now, silicons new IP (130.102.84.150) is valid and I can use it, It used to
be used by one of the
computers in this room.

I've tried adding 130.102.84.150 to cadmium's routing table, and silicons
default route is to
cadmium, but while I can ping to/from cadmium/silicon, I can't get any
traffic to/from
silicon to the OUTSIDE(tm) world.

Subnetting has been suggested, but it appears this is not going to help.
But I could be wrong 8)

Ideas? What has to be done to cadmiums routing table to make this work. As
it is, cadmium
will "see" any packets for 130.102.84.150, but it doesn't pick them up and
give them to
silicon., the intended recipient.

Cadmium is very basic Slackware install running 2.0.30 linux. Silicon has
2.1.40 and is RedHat
if you are interested.

Thanks for your forbearance,

Chris
