three important environment variables for Lynx:
http_proxy, ftp_proxy, and (if you really want) ftp_proxy

set them all to http://proxy.uq.edu.au:80/

as per David's instructions.

If this doesn't work, you may not have a nameserver set up.  In
/etc/resolv.conf, you want to define a nameserver or two:
nameserver 130.102.2.15
nameserver 130.102.128.49

if this doesn't work, then you're incompetent and deserve to use Windows
forever.  Or I forgot something and am incomptetent and deserve to use
Windows forever.  Except *my* installation works. :)  See you at the next
