[H-GEN] PPPD

I'm pretty sure I have everything configured properly. I've followed the
Linux PPP howto and checked everything but no luck yet.

I have a 28.8K modem connected to cua2, that works ok with minicom. But when
I try and start a ppp connection by typing

exec pppd connect 'chat -v -f /etc/ppp/chatscript' -detach crtscts modem
defaultroute user me /dev/modem 38400

nothing much happens except for the following lines appended to syslog

Jul 21 20:16:03 Dragon syslog: Warning - secret file /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
has world and/or group access
Jul 21 20:16:35 Dragon pppd[178]: Receive serial link is not 8-bit clean:
Jul 21 20:16:35 Dragon pppd[178]: Problem: all had bit 7 set to 0

Can anyone help ?
