Noo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<breath deep>
But seriously now, I have one in this machine (a 7880 actually - which is
an onboard 2940UW). While the current driver in 2.0.32 is pretty darn good
(far better than the one in 2.0.0 which used to bring the machine down
like every 5 minutes).
The biggest problem is with the driver in Linux atm is that under a heavy
load, it'll often just go stupid. Leading to funny SCSI bus resets,
non-working devices or even just a hard reboot.
But then again there are people out there who use them on production
proxies without a hitch. It seems that the current opinion with Linux and
SCSI is that the DPT series of caching RAID controllers are best, and you
can get them without cache and RAID. James, care to comment on your
experiences?

David Jericho - at least the new driver knows about tag queueing
