[H-GEN] Linux+Win95 partition woes

Hi Guys,

I'm assisting a friend down the path of righteousness by helping install
Linux on his box.  But he's not fully converted, and so wants to keep
W95 on it.  Two problems have emerged with the partitioning, one serious,
one not so serious.

The not so serious one is that the existing 95 partition (all of the
disk) has id `c'.  This is flagged by Linux fdisk as `Unknown'.  I
assume (since this is a recent install) that this is the new FAT32
fs.  One document I saw said that Linux currently didn't support
this fs - but I haven't looked any further yet.  Anyone heard an update ?

The serious problem is that the single large partition is not
(according to two different linux-based fdisks and fips) quite correct.
Specifically, that the physical attributes of the drive conflicts with
the logical ones of the first (and only) partition.  Linux detects the
drive as having 64 heads, 63 sectors per track and 1023 cylinders.
It then reports that the first partition is physically (1021,63,63)
and logically (1022,63,63).

My attempt to correct this was to delete the partition, and recreate it
to fill the entire disk.  There-after the fdisks and fips were happy,
but Win95 refused to boot - simply saying press any key to reboot.

Any suggestions for how I can get the partition looking clean enough for
fips to work without killing 95 ?
