WANTED: LINUX/UNIX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (part-time)
Toowong-based developer of mobile applications requires the services
of a talented junior
Linux systems administrator for between 16 & 24 hours per week, with
flexible work
hours.
The position will ideally suit a UQ or QUT student with Linux/UNIX
experience and
enthusiasm for learning more about mobile/3G application environments.
Responsibilities and duties include:
        Ensuring the performance and availability of network and
server infrastructure is
     •
        maintained to the highest standards possible, well backed up
and documented
        Support users by a variety of methods, and provide technical
expertise to users by
     •
        verbal & written means
        On-call support for the network infrastructure and associated devices
     •
        Creation of support tools (PHP) and monitoring scripts (C/Perl/PHP)
     •
        Re-vamp network and hardware infrastructure to build out an
enterprise class
     •
        system for development and web product deployment
Skills:
        2+ years experience in Apache and PHP (required)
     •
        2+ years Linux systems administration (Ubuntu preferred)
     •
        2+ years database management experience (Postgres a big plus)
     •
        Experience in setting up and managing systems monitoring tools
(Nagios, Munin, etc)
     •
        Scripting and programming skills are a must (C/C++/Perl/PHP/Python)
     •
        Knowledge of TCP/IP products / hardware (DNS, sendmail, DHCP,
routing, IPsec)
     •

        Troubleshooting / analytical ability essential
     •
        Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
     •
