Below is a description of the skills required for the project if you

Contract Type:
Phase 1: 2 - 4 Weeks


Description:

We are currently seeking a Developer to complete a software application
for the Audio Visual industry developed in Linux. A skillset in Perl,
XML, Bootloaders and Shell is required.

Tasks Required:

OS:
We are currently running a Full Distro of Fedora Core and require
someone with the abilities to find the dependencies and build a smaller
footprint of Fedora using only the required applications for the
product. All software and drivers are provided.

Bootloader:
Currently the Bootloader we are using is GRUB with a splash screen and
require changes to the Splash screen to include a progress bar or
animated icons, similar to that of Fedora's boot screen. We require the
Boot Screen to allow for Verbose mode and Simple mode. An example would
be the Bootsplash project.

Interface:
The interface is built using XUL and calls Perl scripts for Button
Events, we require additional fields to be added to the User Interface
as well as additional scripting to capture the field data and insert
into a MySQL database from the interface.

Protocol Development:
We currently have a TCP/IP application written in Perl to provide
feedback of the device, however we would like to add additional
features to the script to provide information about the CD drive and
current Media status of the system.

Future Development:
Although this is only Phase 1 of the Prototype we also have 3 other
Phases that we would also like to involve the current contractor,
however it is not imperative that the contractor is involved in future
development.
