Just letting everyone know that DSIG will be having another meeting
during Humbug this Saturday. There will be two talks this week.
The first will start at 7pm when Anthony Towns will be presenting his
work on "ifupdown".
The Debian ifupdown package is an attempt to replace and build
upon the standard "ifup" and "ifdown" utilities that've long been
provided by other distributions. The current release includes support
for configuring interfaces with DHCP, bootp, IPv6, and IPX, and for
automatically detecting how an interface should be configured.
The talk will focus on the design and implementation of ifupdown. It
will
touch on varied aspects, such as language choice, literate programming,
modularity, and writing mini-languages and compilers.
The second talk will start sometime around 8pm when Ben Fowler will be
discussing XSLT.
XML is becoming increasingly popular for storage
of structured data in applications everywhere.
Already, a plethora of technologies exist to help the
programmer make the most of it.
This talk describes the exTensible Stylesheet Language
Transformations (XSLT) standard, a general-purpose
transformation language designed to be a powerful
and flexible tool for manipulating XML data.
The talks will be held in Hawken 2 just downstairs from Hawken C201
where Humbug normally meets.
All are welcome and I look forward to seeing you all there.
