Humbug Chat list - not-so-serious discussions about Humbug and Un*x and etc. ********************************************************* Postings are only accepted from your subscribed address. ********************************************************* Postings from other addresses will be silently bounced to the maintainer who may, or may not, forward them on in a timely manner. Posts to this list are archived at http://archive.humbug.org.au/ This list has the administrivia option enabled. This means that some postings will be silently bounced to the maintainer if the first ten lines (or the Subject) contain common commands to majordomo, such as 'help', 'subscribe', 'unsubscribe', 'lists', etc etc. Please try to avoid using these words. A full list is available by purusing the mailman source code. There is NOOO paragraph 5. Please note that due to some quirks of the mail system in use, you may receive some messages that were sent to the list before you received them. Consider this a 'feature' ;) Basic netiquette is expected of participants of this list. This includes, but is not limited to, refraining from pointless posts (particularly 'ME TOO'), posting a private message *not* to the list (watch the Reply-To header), avoiding having lines of more than 80 characters (72 is better), avoiding cross-posting or not continuing to cross-post to other lists; don't annoy other denizens of the list. Using Chat
To post a message to all the list members, send email to chat@lists.humbug.org.au. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Chat
Subscribe to Chat by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
